serving on Sunday Mornings

If you are ever interested in helping serve on a Sunday morning, we have many opportunities!

  • liturgist

Those who feel comfortable being a part of the worship service can sign up to be a liturgist (or Worship Leaders). Whether calling on the congregation to enter into worship, or sharing the word from Scripture, assisting in the Sacrament of Holy Communion, worship leaders represent the congregation as collectively we offer our praise and thanksgiving to God.

  • greeter/usher

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.  Ushers and greeters welcome all people that attend on a Sunday morning. Further, they hand out bulletins, seat worshippers and help receive and present the congregation's tithes and offerings.

  • chancel choir

The Chancel Choir made up from persons within our congregation to help us to feel God's presence in the midst of the worship services. The choir typically sings one to two times a month between September and May. They also have rehearsals at the church once a week during that time. If you are interested in learning more about our choir at St. Matthews by the Sea, please contact our Music Director, Debby Dudley.

  • the bells of st. Matthews

The Bells of St. Matthews (Bell Choir) is made up from persons within our congregation to help us to feel God's presence in the midst of the worship services. The instrumental sounds of the bells collectively coming together help the congregation to experience God's presence in the services.  The bell choir typically picks certain Sundays to play between September and May. They also have rehearsals at the church during the week when they are preparing for a particular Sunday. If you are interested in learning more about our choir at St. Matthews by the Sea, please contact our Music Director, Debby Dudley.

  • technology

This ministry involves helping to ensure others can learn about our church through the world of technology. Those involved with technology in the church familiarize themselves with the sound system at the church and help record and stream services for those who are joining us online. If you'd like to learn more, please contact our Office Manager, Sandy Donnelly.

Hebrews 10:25

Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near.
